The Women’s Community Council of Khomyn Tal is a Mongolian NGO established in 2008 to help women earn a sustainable income. Since their creation, we have provided the Council with entrepreneurial and technical trainings so that they can ultimately run their own “conservation enterprises” based on added-value livestock products.
At the moment, their main activities are creating felt handicrafts and homespun camel wool. You can purchase their products at Le Villaret or online. We are also searching for new outlets, if you are a retailer or know of a retailer who might be interested, please download our catalogue and contact us!
Buyanjargal – President of the Women’s Community Council
Buyanjargal has 2 children and her family has more camels than any other species. “Our community is very far from the cities, that is why we don’t go their often. We learned many things after the Association Takh established the felt product trainings. I took part in all of the trainings. I like to make felt slippers. Every year I make about between 300,000 and 400.000 tugriks by making and selling my products. I would like to make more products to have more income. My goal in the future is to have best quality products.”
Oyun has 4 children and her family has a small herd of sheep, goats, horses, cows and camels. She says, “I am very happy that I learned how to make felt products. Even if it is not a big amount, it helps my family. Of course, the income depends on the quantity and quality of the products that you make. I like to make baby slippers, felt socks and keychains. I want to thank the Association Takh staff who are very helpful and useful. I also want to thank our customers.”
Tsetsengoo has 2 children and her family herds mainly sheep. She took part in all the felt product trainings since the beginning and has always been motivated by the opportunities that the Takh project offers. “I like to make the felt horses and handbags. It is easy for me to sell the products that I make and with the income, I like to buy makeup and other things for myself and for my family. Also, my family has warmer winters thanks to my felt socks!”
